THE EXPERIENCE

Taste, learn, laugh.

Portugal Wine Experience was created to inform and educate wine enthusiasts of the beauty of Portuguese wines in a warm and comfortable setting. Portuguese wines go far beyond Vinho Verde and the famous Ports. There are over 350 different grapes in Portugal; most of these grapes are unknown outside of the country. Our goal is to introduce you to the grapes, the regions and the styles of winemaking in Portugal.

Funny what happens when you throw positive energy out to the cosmos. Sometimes they listen. Ten years ago I drank a glass of wine that changed my world. Over the last decade I have been learning every aspect of wine, with the end result being a very well-rounded wine educator. I even worked at a small winery for years to experience the process hands-on. The more you learn, the more you want to share. “And the more he shares”, says a former student, “the more fun we have”.

Stephen is a Certified Specialist of Wine and Level III Sommelier, now living in Porto, Portugal. He holds certificates in Enology and Viticulture from Washington State University. Stephen is also a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. Stephen worked for four years at Unionville Vineyards in Ringoes, NJ.

Discovering wines in a warm and intimate setting is how tasting wine was meant to be.

Pedro grew up amidst an endless array of vineyards and rolling hills in north Portugal. On his family estate, the wine culture was inescapable, His earliest memories are of treading grapes in the lagar in the winemaking cellar.

As an adult, he moved to Porto and then on to a number of locations throughout Europe. It was when he started working for a Dutch food and wine company that he discovered the destiny that had been with him since childhood.

His curiosity grew along with the need to explore and learn more about this wonderful world of wine. Pedro now holds a joint degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of Porto & the School of Agronomy in Lisbon. He has a Master's Degree in Wine Tourism from Universities of Bordeaux & Rovira i Virgili (Spain). Pedro, who loves to share his knowledge about wine and viniculture also studied communications at Perth College UHI, Scotland.

More important then the food pairing is who you drink the wine with.
